Class of 2020: College Applications Bootcamp
What is Bootcamp?
Eight intensive, 3-hour sessions taught by Cecilia E. Johnston, certified College Admissions Counselor, former VUSD Parent, and local high school volunteer – serving Ventura & Santa Barbara County families for over ten years! Cecilia earned a College Admissions Counseling Certificate through UCLA Extension and is a member of WACAC (Western Association for College Admission Counseling), the regional affiliate of NACAC (National Association for College Admission Counseling).
These sessions cover all aspects of the college application process, including organization, college choice strategies, college and scholarship applications, essays, college admissions offers and financial aid. The sessions occur twice in the Spring of your Junior year (makeup session available over the summer) and approximately once a month starting August of your Senior year. The sessions are timed to coincide with various deadlines related to college testing, applications, financial aid, scholarships, etc.
Who is it for?
High School students graduating in 2020 and their Parents. (Students from all Ventura County/Santa Barbara area schools and homeschoolers are welcome.)
When and where is it?
Choose the Series that works best with your schedule (regardless of which high school you attend). If you miss a class, you may attend one of the other 2 public sessions happening that month, as the sessions all follow the same schedule.
How much does it cost?
We kindly suggest a donation of $45 per family per session (or $360 per family for the full 8-session series / $400 for the private group series). Pay what you can when you can, no family will be turned away for inability to pay. (Note: Your donations help us cover the cost of facility rental, materials and handouts, and copious research time.) Donations may be made at the sessions with cash or check or through Venmo, they are not required in advance. If you prefer to pay with debit/credit card, please use the PayPal links below or on our website. Check out the Special Offer below!
